This and That for Friday

~~~ The chance Israel will not attack Iran is going from slim to none. The window of opportunity for such an attack is closing.
Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the Iranian nuclear threat, saying the sanctions imposed by the international community on the Islamic Republic "are not working."
 "Iran is the most irresponsible force in the world. I hope the sanctions will have an effect, but so far they have not. We are dealing with a regime that violates every resolution and has no respect for international standards," the Israeli Netanyahu said.
We have a hot Spring on the way.
~~~ Is Newt Gingrich washed up? Think again.

The former Speaker of the House raised $2 million during a three-day fundraising swing through California and laid a support foundation in a state that could become important in a protracted nominating contest, campaign officials said yesterday.
We wrote yesterday that we though the race for the Republican nomination was far from over and that there could be other candidates if the convention does not select a nominee during the primary process.

As Yogi Berra was was known to say, "It ain't over 'til it's over."

It's 2:45 PM Eastern time and this news is just breaking:

Billionaire casino magnate Sheldon Adelson plans to give another $10 million to the outside group backing the former Georgia lawmaker (Newt Gingrich) who is running behind former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, a source close to Adelson told CBS News.

This contribution completely changes the odds come Super Tuesday.

~~~ Headline - Appearing with Mitt Romney, Michigan's governor endorses son of the Motor State.
It seems Mitt has more endorsers than likely voters.
~~~ Is it possible crude oil could reach $200 a barrel?

The question may not be accurate. The price could go higher. The normal supply and demand rules may not apply and we could be heading for a horrible financial crash. The impact on families could make us yearn to be like Greece.

~~~ The Nigerian who tried to blow up a flight to on Christmas Day 2009 with a bomb hidden in his underwear, was sentenced to life in prison Thursday in federal court in Detroit.
An a flight from Amsterdam carrying 290 passengers and crew approached Detroit, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab tried to detonate the bomb, but it malfunctioned and sparked a small fire burning his privates.
The attempted bomber will now spend the remainder of his life in solitary confinement twenty-three hours per day.
~~~ Fox News hits a home run.

“The rate of unemployment in the United States has exceeded 8 percent since February 2009, making the past three years the longest stretch of high unemployment in this country since the Great Depression.

"Moreover, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) projects that the unemployment rate will remain above 8 percent until 2014. The official unemployment rate excludes those individuals who would like to work but have not searched for a job in the past four weeks as well as those who are working part-time but would prefer full-time work; if those people were counted among the unemployed, the unemployment rate in January 2012 would have been about 15 percent.
"Compounding the problem of high unemployment, the share of unemployed people looking for work for more than six months—referred to as the long-term unemployed—topped 40 percent in December 2009 for the first time since 1948, when such data began to be collected; it has remained above that level ever since.”

The situation today is reminiscent of what my Mom told me about the world as it was before I was born.

~~~ This could be one lollipalooza of a year. We are now learning we will reach our statutory debt limit of more than sixteen-trillion dollars. The "drop dead" date for this is just days before the election.
~~~ We have suggested the lineup for the Republican nomination is not yet complete. Our thoughts were prompted by the four way race which could lead to a stalemate by convention time with no one having the necessary fifty percent of the delegates to win outright.

If the convention goes beyond a first ballot there would not be a requirement for delegates cast their votes for whomever they were originally pledged to beyond the first ballot.

This article ( http://www.newsmax.com/Newsfront/Palin-campaign-brokered-convention/2012/02/16/id/429694 ) in Newsmax  makes this case well. The former Alaska governor is more than merely hinting at the possibility of her entering the race at convention.

Palin said that she has “the fire in my belly” to make another run for political office. The former GOP vice presidential candidate also suggested she might be willing to step forward should the scenario of a brokered presidential convention occur, CBS News’ Political Hotsheet reported.

As old Yogi used to say, "It ain't over 'til it's over." This may not be settled even after the primaries are over.

~~~ This a must view. It's a daily item done each day bt Dick Morris. In this one he explains the shenanigans going on concerning various statistics put out by the Obamamites.
