The following was presented by a friend and I thought it captured Romney perfectly. The author is someone who was intimately involved in Romney returning to Massachusetts in order to run for governor. Like many friends and acquaintances I have, Mitt was able to pull the wool over his eyes.

I certify everything presented here is true and accurate.

Mitt’s Moby Dick

Like Captain Ahab, Mitt Romney has his great white whale and it has all the likelihood of taking him down too.
Universal healthcare and its author at the federal level, United States Senator Edward Kennedy tried for decades to establish healthcare for all, only to be shot down by the congress, by a bad plan, and later, terrible execution by the Clinton Administration by a nation adamantly opposed to the concept of mandates.

This all goes back to 1994, when Mitt took on Senator Kennedy and with the polls showing the two even in October, Mitt morphed into a candidate that we, as ardent supporters did not know. First he let it be known he did not vote for Ronald Reagan, who by the way carried Massachusetts,  not once but twice.

Mitt then became the prochoice icon of the left, only to trumpet that with his representation he would also be far better for the gay community than the Liberal Lion of Massachusetts, Ted Kennedy.

Huh, he said what? Who is this guy?

After Kennedy took apart his business record the race was over. Kennedy won by almost twenty points, roughly the same margin as always. It didn’t matter as Kennedy beat Romney in the same fashion he defeated his previous opponents. Romney was trounced even after holding Kennedy even in the polls at the time of the debate.

In 2002 Mitt came back doe more.

Fresh off his success of the Winter Olympics in Utah, with millions in federal dollars to make these games safe and secure in the post 9/11 period, Mitt took center stage one night in January 2002 and was catapulted into the national spotlight.

Who can forget the opening ceremonies with Mitt and President George Bush seated high in the stands talking to participants and the crowd. It was a seminal Moment for Mitt!

Governor Mitt…

The now Governor of Massachusetts, still pro-choice and pro-gap rights man, Mitt stood down when gay marriage became the law in Massachusetts. It wasn’t enough as our state ranked 48th in job creation, a bad place to be. Romney by now was the chairman of the Republican Governor’s Association and began to bring forth his concept of universal healthcare.

In April of 2006, in a signing ceremony at historic Faneuil Hall, while he was flanked by Senator Kennedy and other prominent Democrats, Mitt harpooned the Great White Whale signing a bill into law that hooked a mandate around everyone’s neck.
The mandate – you buy healthcare and if you don’t we will fine you $2000 each year. The bill was written by many in the health care industry. They were happy to help Mitt out and earn higher health care premiums.

Romneycare advanced.

Now virtually all Bay State residents have healthcare. However for us mere mortals the cost of health care has risen by seventy-percent since Mitt slew his “Great White Whale”.

RRomneycare was now lawEmergency rooms in hospitals are swamped because people use them as primary care outlets. Health care is still a budget buster. Mitt did what Ted Kennedy could not.

Just as Captain Ahab had to have his prize, the image of Ahab riding the whale down into the depths launching spears into its pure white back, while his shape and sailors perished, is a clear picture of Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who is now a presidential candidate hurtling down into the depths, on the law he so blindly had to have which may now might kill his hopes for the presidency.

If the United States Supreme Court rules the individual mandate unconstitutional it would be a moment that those Romney so desperately needs and wants will be quite upset with the granddaddy of Romneycare which directly led to Obamacare.

For those of us who supported Mitt Romney for years, Romneycare was the last insult.
