Epic Fail:Whitney Houston Dies, and Tony Bennett Calls for Drug Legalization
By Tim Graham
Is theresomething toxic in the hair piece? Singer Tony Bennett isn't just a liberal,he's an embarrassing liberal who says the wrong thing at the wrong time. TheHollywood Reporter passes along that at the pre-Grammy bash of record producerClive Davis, Bennett took the news of Whitney Houston's untimely death as anoccasion for a political statement demanding America legalize drugs like theNetherlands.
"First itwas Michael Jackson, then Amy Winehouse, now, the magnificent WhitneyHouston," he began. "I'd like every person in this room to campaignto legalize drugs." But it gets worse. "Let's legalize drugs likethey did in Amsterdam," he continued. "No one's hiding or sneakingaround corners to get it. They go to a doctor to get it."
The HollywoodReporter provides the "Earth to stupid" sentence, but gently: Ahem,"Bennett's statements come months after Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for his involvement in prescribingand administering a fatal dose of the drug propofol."
Bennett justhad to make his political speech before honoring Houston's talent and singing"How Do You Keep the Music Playing." That's not a Whitney Houstonsong (it's a James Ingram song), but it's been part of Bennett's act for a long time.

Less than a week after besting Mitt Romney in primary contests in three states, Rick Santorum has a 15-point lead on the former Massachusetts governor, according to a national poll released Saturday by Democratic firm Public Policy Polling. Recent polls had shown Romney up about 10 points on Newt Gingrich, his nearest rival.

You need to be seared to read the following from Bloomberg:
President Barack Obama submits the fourth budget of his presidency tomorrow, a multitrillion-dollar package that calls for $350 billion in short-term spending to create jobs and a $476 billion highway bill, while saying it will cut $4 trillion from the deficit over a decade, partly by raising taxes on the wealthy.
This information comes to us courtesy of White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew.

When I was much younger, Illinois Senator Everett Dirksen once complained that early in his career we had million dollar deficits. Then some years later tens of millions. He hypothesized if we were nor careful we would have hundred million dollar deficits. Just imagine what he'd say now.
That does it for today.......
