Here comes another WRKO Saturday morning.......

Rise and Shine!!!!!!!

General David Petraeus gave a press interview yesterday at the Pentagon.
ere is a complete transcript of that conference. It is very long but worthwhile rerading because of the seriousness of the topic.

1…..First quarter economic growth has slowed to a crawl thanks for the softening of the housing market. This will also lead to a tightening of budgets and loans. Lenders will fear a potential loss in the value of the collateral in the because of a possible drop in housing values.

The boom was fueled by the notion the value of real estate would grow in perpetuity. It was all viewed as upside. The lenders kept pumping more air in the balloon --- until now that is. The balloon is showing signs of popping. The pullback by lenders will exacerbate the slowdown in much the same way silly lending practices inflated the prices in the first place. It probably will be some time before prices level off.

2…..Did you hear the latest about which group is a major tax scofflaw? More than 450,000 active and retired federal employees did not voluntarily comply with federal income tax requirements for the 2005 tax year with a tab of $3 billion.

3…..The white flag of surrender has been run up the pole by our senate and house surrender monkeys. Fortunately our troops are capable of maintaining their focus while stationed there. Their goal has not changed. To them defeat is not an option. We have a military to be proud of.

Concerning the vote by the senate for a date certain Senator John McCain said on the floor of the senate: “ If we leave Iraq, there will be chaos, there will be genocide, and they will follow us home,” the Arizona senator said, calling the war against al-Qaeda “a struggle between good and evil.”
4…..The great eight Democrat/Green Party candidates for president are pretty much in the do as I say category. Newsday reports:

“A flock of small jets took flight from Washington Thursday, each carrying a Democratic presidential candidate to South Carolina for the first debate of the political season.
“For Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama, Chris Dodd and Joe Biden, it was wheels up shortly after they voted in favor of legislation requiring that U.S. troops begin returning home from Iraq in the fall.

“No one jet pooled, no one took commercial flights to save money, fuel or emissions. “All but Biden, who flew on a private jet, chartered their flights -- a campaign expense of between $7,500 and $9,000.”

Even the poor man’s candidate, Dennis Kucinich, went the jet set route.

Boy, talk about a lot of carbon footprints.

5…..What’s that old saw? You remember, about those in glass houses and throwing stones.

Well Drudge had this tidbit today:

DNC Dean Says Giuliani's 'Personal Life Is A Serious Problem'Fri Apr 27 2007 09:37:49 ETDemocratic party chairman Howard Dean said on Thursday that Rudy Giuliani "personal life is a serious problem."Dean sent the warning on CNN's SITUATION ROOM with host Wolf Blitzer.
Chariman Dean said the former New York City Mayor "has a lot of character issues that he has to answer for. And overwhelmingly, Americans are going to vote on honesty and integrity....
We've begun to reach out to evangelical Christians, and that's a real problem for him. His personal life is a serious problem for him." BLITZER: Well, describe those character issues...DEAN: No, I'm not going to get into that stuff. I don't like attacking people on their personal lives, but I can assure you that in the Republican primary, given what went on in the 2000 Republican primary in South Carolina between George Bush and John McCain, those attacks will be made in the Republican Party.Developing...

What a crock from the chief Democrat.

6…..In the “How much egg can I get on my face category” as reported in the New York Times---

Marilee Jones, the dean of admissions at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, became well known for urging stressed-out students competing for elite colleges to calm down and stop trying to be perfect. Yesterday she admitted that she had fabricated her own educational credentials, and resigned after nearly three decades at M.I.T. Officials of the institute said she did not have even an undergraduate degree.

“I misrepresented my academic degrees when I first applied to M.I.T. 28 years ago and did not have the courage to correct my résumé when I applied for my current job or at any time since,” Ms. Jones said in a statement posted on the institute’s Web site. “I am deeply sorry for this and for disappointing so many in the M.I.T. community and beyond who supported me, believed in me, and who have given me extraordinary opportunities.”

Ms. Jones said that she would not make any other public comment “at this personally difficult time” and that she hoped her privacy would be respected.

Ms. Jones, 55, originally from Albany, had on various occasions represented herself as having degrees from three upstate New York institutions: Albany Medical College, Union College and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In fact, she had no degrees from any of those places, or anywhere else, M.I.T. officials said.

A spokesman for Rensselaer said Ms. Jones had not graduated there, though she did attend as a part-time nonmatriculated student during the 1974-75 school year. The other colleges said they had no record of her.
Nuff said

7…..Now there’s a new meaning to a baked bean attack, check this one out. “LONDON - Hugh Grant has been arrested and questioned by police after a photographer accused the actor of attacking him with a tub of baked beans.”

8…..Jerome Corsi had this very interesting article in World Net Daily today. It discusses yet one more major problem relating to public safety.

According to the director of an FBI task force, the ultra-violent Latin American MS-13 gang have been identified in 42 U.S. states. The article linked below is very disturbing.

9…..Another Red Sox/Yankees weekend, this one in the Bronx Zoo.

10…..Our guest at 7 AM Saturday morning on WRKO will be Air Force Colonel Timothy A. Green who is currently assigned to Multi-National Force-Iraq (MNF-I) as Chief, Government of Iraq (GOI) Engagement Team, United States Embassy, Baghdad, Iraq. He leads a professional team dedicated to planning, coordinating and executing strategic communications plans.

He is the principal liaison with key Iraqi leaders in the offices of the Prime Minister, National Security Advisor, Joint Headquarters, Minister of Defense and Minister of Interior.

Lt Col Green was born in Duluth, Minnesota.

See you Saturday morning from to 6 to 10 AM on Boston’s Talkstation, AM 680, WRKO.

Ciao……. Moe

If Marilee Jones could do the job as Dean of Admissions for so many years at MIT and have a positive imfluence on the students than just maybe - the job doesn't require someone with an elite college degree!! I say "good for her" - I know she lied but just maybe she did a good job, earned her pay and helped a lot of kids!
Anne in Lakeville

Initially I sort of agreed with that assertion Anne. That being said, MariLee had to go because she simply lied to get the job. We can not tolerate such an overt lack of integrity... Now, the people that hired her should have some answering to do !
